7 essential marketing tools to help you grow your business

There are so many marketing tools out there to help you understand, schedule, automate or improve the organisation of your marketing activity to choose from it can be a bit overwhelming knowing which ones to choose. And, it can take a long time to go through them to find out which ones work best for you.

To help you through this minefield, here are 7 of the best marketing tools I’ve found for making my marketing and design easier whilst also saving time AND money

Ok, so here we go (in no particular order):

Google Analytics

Don’t know what’s happening on your website? Google Analytics provide a huge mountain of marketing data on how your website is performing and what your customers and potential customers are doing. Essentially it give you all the data you need to make informed marketing and business decisions. If you haven’t got it installed on your site already get your web developer to add it today. You can find out which pages are performing the best, which pages people are leaving instantly, what networks are driving the most traffic, identify who your best customers are, the queries people are using to find your site and soooo much more!

No time for social media? Hootsuite allows you to manage your social media profiles (Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Google+), all in one place saving you heaps of time. Once your profiles are connected you can schedule all your posts ahead of time freeing up the rest of your day! Even better, your first three profiles are free although if you upgrade you do get some really useful features.


Google Keyword Planner

Not sure what are the best keywords to use? Google Keyword Planner provides you with a list of keywords relevant to your industry. Simply add the keywords or phrase you think your customers will search for and the Google Keyword Tool will return other keywords for you to include in your content creation based on search data. The tool is included in Adwords but you can still use it without spending a penny.

Can’t afford a graphic designer? No problem! Canva is a free graphic creation platform that allows everyone to create stunning marketing graphics for use in social media, presentations, posters, blogs and more. You can access stock images and save each graphic to your account ready to download.  It really is super simple!



Easy emails.You’ve probably heard of MailChimp, in fact you might already be using it. It’s user friendly drag and drop system allows you to create and personalise your emails. If you can code you can add your own template, if not MailChimp makes it easy to create your own branded template. There is a free version but the paid for version allows you to create an automated email journey for your subscribers saving heaps of time. It integrates with WordPress seamlessly so website signups go straight into the right list!


Google Trends

Need to understand what’s trending now? Google Trends is a free tool that allows you to compare a number of keywords to see how they’re trending and what is the most popular search term now.

Unsure of which hashtags to use? Hashtagify.me is a free tool that helps you find the best hashtags to reach and grow your audience. Simply type in a word and you’ll be shown the most relevant hashtags around that keyword.
